I'm still plodging in me wellies today and enjoying it.
It was the winter of '62-63 when my enjoyment of wearing my wellies started. I was 12 years old and me mam told me to wear my wellies because of the snow. At first I said no because I was a big boy now and wellies were for little lads but then I saw a lad from across the road who was older than me and he was wearing his wellies.

He though had turned over the tops of his wellies to show the white inner lining. This was quite common in those days with the working men so I copied and turned over the tops of my wellies and went off to school with a smile on my face and getting a big thrill from wearing my wellies like the working men did.

This was the start of my love affair with wellies.

In response to:What a Friend We Have In Jesus

Wonderful. The power of self-belief and love is the true meaning of religion and faith. :-)

In response to:ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK

Another well-written, interesting commentary on your life in the late 1950s.
No couples I know have been married for so many years.

That’s an hilarious story about the toilet.
I cannot say I am convinced yet about global warming. If it is real I wish they would send some here where I live in The North East of England. This is summer and for the last four days I have had the central heating on. Still it is suppose to warm up at the week end. David Bellamy (the naturalist) who lives in this area reckons global warming is just a fallacy so maybe Bush got something right for a change when he said there was no such thing

Best Wishes
So what's changed with UK weather, global warming? Last night in Auckland NZ we had another 'cold' winter's night at 10C.
